Applications
An application is your client registration for calling APIs. It holds the credentials the gateway checks, and the list of APIs the application subscribes to.
Applications belong to the environment selected in the header. Their credentials are issued in the format that environment's gateway expects, so the credential fields differ between Apigee, Gravitee and Azure API Management.
An application's owners and portal administrators can share it with a team, so colleagues call APIs with the same registration. When the organisation requires approval for new subscriptions, a subscription stays pending until an administrator approves it.
